Your memories of Manchester United Away
Apologies if done, already.

1-0 in the FA Cup (2001). Fantastic. Paolo making a fool out of Barthez.

1-0 win in 01/02 - Defoe with a header. Good season, that. Finished 7th in the end. Haven't finished as high as that since then.

Great Escape win at the end of 06/07 - Tevez with his ICONIC goal.

Shit ones:

1-7 in 99/00. 1-0 with Wanchope on the scoresheet. Fucking horror show after that.

0-6 in 02/03 in the FA Cup. That useless cunt Gary Breen was at fault in some form for every goal. Should've been 10-0 (or more) to them.

Been quite a few other shit games there but I'll leave it at that.

Remember me and a couple of mates driving to macclesfield IIRC and getting the metro in... good as gold going... but getting back my missus phones us up whilst standing in a packed metro ... I had the `Bubbles' ring call at the time on the old Nokia... luckily enough the hordes had just stuffed us 0-6... the look on me mates face....

Mrs NS "What time you getting home"?
Me "Well thanks to you I might not be getting home"

Tomorrow wil be visit number 21 to Old Trafford, the first one being the 3-2 win in 1986, just turned 16. Seen 3 victories in all. Can remember a cracking article in "On A Mission" written just after we played there in the mid to late '90's. It was all about the day out and included a very hostile walk from the train/tram station at Old Trafford, our lot keeping it tight and protecting each other, really conveyed the camaraderie.
My brother has got all the fanzines in his loft but I'd love to dig that one out.

Knew we'd go-down after the 0-6 horror show.

Was probably obvious even before then.

Re: Your memories of Manchester United Away
I have been to them and a few more.

I remember the 6 0 game us being 3 down and roeder taking off defoe, our only striker and putting on a defender.

Crowd start singing glen roeder is a football genius.

Then lets pretend we scored a goal.

Horrific game, great crowd

Went to the 7-1, 6-0 & Paolo 0-1... The biggest impression I have still is Joe Cole almost literally running himself into the ground whilst all around him trod the treacle of incompetency and apathy...

hartson scoring first in 97. I was in the manc corporate bit with my dad and a mate. We'd backed super John at 10s so went ballistic. As we stopped celebrating suddenly realised we were surrounded by angry mancs. Stewards made us leave after it was all getting a bit heated. Couple of our proper loons where standing on their seats fronting up everyone as the stewards marched us out. Funnily enough they left them alone

Breengate, though I do remember at the end of that game we should have had a penalty with them having someone sent off but it was just ignored

dicksie- Yeah, it was 07/08. I remember it was a beautiful day and that goal from Ashton was top class.

That was about as enjoyable as that day got.

Never any good with years but 1/4 Final mid 80's lost 4-2, remember them lobbing golf balls and ball bearings at us inside the ground, great atmosphere, got thrown out for swearing at a copper with 15 to go, carnage everywhere.

Again mid/late 80's, think a 2-0 defeat the weekend after the Hooligan documentary was thrown, we cant have had more than 400 there, first time I heard Come in a taxi sang at us, got normal train home, was sitting in the Buffet Car with AS and his mates who I hardly knew, stopped at Stockport and 100 odd Mancs ran on to the platform, was told to get off the train by AS, which I reluctantly did, thankfully a few old bill managed to regain order after a minute so only took a few slaps !

The Barthez cup game, managed to put my mate off a £5 bet on Di Canio/1-0, think it was 100/1, mate still goes on about it to this day

Tevez - Watched from Companies box, one of the best football days of my life, don't mind admitting I shed a couple of tears when the final whistle went.

Always one of the biggest away games in the 80/90's, Sunday will be no different.

Re: Your memories of Manchester United Away
Used to go up there a lot in the 80's. That 4-2 defeat in the FA Cup quarter final remains one of my favourite trips. Persil ticket at Euston, Got a match ticket on the train on the way up. Our support was excellent that day and we took loads. Went to the League Cup game up there when we was robbed and Mark Ward's free kick was ruled out. Then again on a Sunday when Geoff Pike and Tonka scored. All trips by the train. When Paolo scored I was going by coach and football was well on it's way to becoming what we all know and love today... but it'll be good to go back there on Sunday. I fancy our chances.

Fantastic. Paolo making a fool out of Barthez

Better still was the following week Liverpool AWAY sat in the Arkle pub singing "Let's all do the Barthez" with all the Liverpool fans.
